Elizabeth Michael, PsyD
Dr. Elizabeth Michael is a licensed psychologist (PSY34573) who provides therapy to individuals and couples. She specializes in providing evidence-based care to clients living with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, anxiety disorders, insomnia, depression, and other mood disorders. She also provides treatment to couples hoping to improve their relationships.
Dr. Michael is trained a variety of trauma-focused treatments, including prolonged exposure (PE), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and narrative exposure therapy (NET). She’s also trained in other therapeutic modalities, including dialectical behavior therapy, emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for couples, and cognitive behavioral therapy for social anxiety, insomnia, and depression.
In the therapy room, Dr. Michael aims to collaboratively establish a safe and nonjudgmental environment in which clients feel empowered to meet their therapeutic goals. Dr. Michael hopes to create this environment through employing a flexible, warm, and authentic stance within the therapy room. Further, she works to highlight her clients’ strengths and their unique, intersectional identities to best adapt treatment to clients’ individual needs and treatment goals.
In Dr. Michael’s View
“I believe in the profound healing that comes from finding the right therapeutic space to share your unique story. I believe in creating that space through an approach to care that feels kind, collaborative, and understanding.
Throughout treatment, I aim to honor your values, strengths, and cultural identities. I also aim to flexibly grounding our work in what the research suggests may help you to meet your therapeutic goals. And I hope to provide care in a way that not only feels warm and authentic, but also helps empower you to shift and grow in ways that feel aligned with the life you’d like to create for yourself!”
